Sounds of the HART

Prolific local author Timothy Gilmore’s newest novel, The Book of Isaiah: A Vision of the Founder of a City examines Jacksonville’s notoriously complicated founder Isaiah D. Hart, who stole slaves and resold them, then left part of his ill-gotten gains to the slave with whom he had children. The event, called Literature, Art, Music, features a reading by Gilmore, accompanied by Shep Shepard’s music videos from the soundtrack and his art.

6-8 p.m. Thur., Dec. 14 at Chamblin’s Uptown, 215 N. Laura St., Downtown, free, facebook.com/events/284793172032188.
