“When one has not had a good father, one must create one,” said philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche. What does that mean? How would you “create” a good father? You could develop a relationship with an admirable older man who’s an inspiring role model. Or read books by men whose work stirs you to actualize your potentials. If you have a vigorous inner life, build an imaginary dad. Or cultivate qualities in you that you think a good father should have. Even if you had a decent father, he wasn’t perfect. It might be interesting to try these ideas. The next few weeks are a great time to get fathering energy.
