OCTOBER GULLAH FESTIVAL
The Jacksonville Gullah Geechee Nation’s third-annual festival showcases the culture, food, music and art of the descendants of slaves from the sea islands of the Southeast. The festival includes artists, storytellers, dancers and other performers. Free admission to the Ritz Museum includes the opportunity to see “Word, Shout, Song” — a Smithsonian exhibit on pioneering linguist Lorenzo Dow Turner.
