Hundreds of golfers, music fans, party people, do-gooders—and at least one celebrity stalker (no comment) turned out for the 13th annual Murray Bros. Caddyshack Charity Golf Tournament held earlier this month. The two-day event, which benefited the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, kicked off with a pairings party, silent auction, performance by indie rocker chick Grace Potter (with a surprise set by Darius Rucker), live auction and appearances by former Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees outfielder/first baseman Johnny Damon, actress Kristy Swanson, retired Chicago Cubs pitcher Kerry Wood, World champion pair skater Lloyd Eisler, Firehouse Subs founders Chris and Robin Sorensen, and Murray brothers Ed, Brian Doyle, Andy and Joel (Bill was in Munich "filming with Clooney"). The golf tournament was held at the King & Bear and Slammer & Squire at World Golf Village.
As part of the festivities, the Sorensens, on behalf of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, presented more than $22,000 worth of equipment including an all-terrain vehicle and four automated external defibrillators to the Clay County Fire Rescue and Green Cove Springs Police Department. Since its founding in 2005, the foundation has donated more than $6.8 million to hometown heroes.
